Born in 1971 in Lebanon, Fatima Kawtharani graduated in 1994 from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Lebanese University where she also later achieved her Master’s degree. A constant feeling of childhood swivels around Kawtharani, and is strongly expressed through her canvases as she naturally uses childish symbols such as fish, flowers, birds and geometrical shapes. Her work on canvas often distinguishes itself by the presence of fabric, embroidery or even handmade dolls as part of the artwork. She has exhibited frequently in her home country namely at the Salon d’Automne of the Musée Sursock in Beirut, as well as abroad.
